Gareth Bale proposed to his long-term girlfriend earlier this month, and the Real Madrid man revealed on Twitter that she replied in the affirmative.

And the Welshman pulled out all the stops to ensure it was as memorable as possible.

According to this report from the Mail, Bale spent £400,000 (nearly half a million euro) for the private rental of Tagomago Island, which is located just next to Ibiza.

The cost of the island rental wasn’t just for him and his fiancee, though: Bale also put up a group of friends, as it was his 27th birthday, so it was a particularly special weekend for the Real Madrid man.

A big investment, but one that ultimately paid off handsomely for Bale.

What a summer for Bale: first he had that amazing tournament captaining Wales to the Euro 2016 semi-final, and he then gets to marry the love of his life.

What more can a guy ask for?
