Sports stars speak with the athletes of Lausanne 2020

In January 2020, athletes will be able to participate in an educational program that is organized for the duration of the Games. They will be able to take part in a series of experiments and tests, as well as learn about subjects relevant to athletic activities. This program was designed by UNIL (University of Lausanne), EPFL(Federal polytechnical School of Lausanne) and CHUV (the Vaudois University Hospital).

In this perspective, Lausanne 2020, accompanied by the CHUV, is making a series of preventative health care clips addressed to athletes, tackling the following themes developed by Health for Performance’s educational activity:

Concussion;
     Musculoskeletal injuries (ex. ACL);
     Abuse/violence in sports;
     Stress management;
     Fatigue management;
     Athletic nutrition;
     Oral health;
     Relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S);
     Knee problems;
     Back pains.
     Renowned athletes are often the best spokespersons for these preventative health care messages. The Lausanne 2020 ambassadors are therefore involved in this educational activity and will deliver, on-camera, the message of preventative health care with respect to each topic mentioned above. Recently, it is the ski cross champion, Fanny Smith (Olympic medal, double World Champion), who has taken the stage to speak about knee problems with the young triathlete Robin Triponez. And soon legendary hockey goalkeeper, Cristobal Huet (Stanley Cup Winner, three-time Olympian), and renowned figure skater, Sarah Meier Van Berkel (European Champion, Olympian), will have their turn to deliver a message of prevention to the athletes competing at Lausanne 2020.
