The Mercedes-AMG GT C roadster has been teased on video ahead of its official debut at the Paris motor show later this month.

No technical details for the new model have been released, but sources claim it will sit above the AMG GT and GT S in Mercedes's sports car range, with more power from its turbocharged 4.0-litre 'hot vee' V8 engine and a harder, more aggressive chassis setup part of its armoury.

The model will likely eventually spawn a coupé version and will sit below the hardcore GT R. Given that the GT S produces 503bhp and the GT R offers 577bhp, we can expect an output of around 530bhp with the GT C.

We can expect some technical features of the GT R to be passed down to the GT C. Earlier spy pictures (pictured in the gallery) of the model confirm it will get a folding soft-top, likely because of the weight saving benefits compared with a hard folding alternative.

More information will be released when the model is shown in Paris.
