Watch: Car thief knocks himself out with brick while trying to break window

A blundering car thief has knocked himself out while trying to steal a Mercedes when the brick he threw at the window rebounded back, striking him in the head.

The thief was eventually found on the floor by the landlord of the Pheasant bar in Drogheda, Ireland.

Initally the landlord, Gerry Brady, thought the thief had been involved in a hit-and-run, but when he asked the man what had happened he claimed he had been attacked, but did not want to call the police.

Gerry Brady only realised what had happened when he noticed the damage to his new car, so he checked the CCTV.

"My partner then noticed the damage to her car, I had a look at the Merc and could see dents on it. We got the cops and they took him away after we showed them the CCTV." Mr Brady told the Irish Examiner newspaper.
