VivaCell-MTS supports the sixth international NASA Space Apps Challenge

The sixth international Space Apps Challenge of the NASA - the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the USA – has kicked off in Byurakan Observatory. This is the second time Armenia participates in the challenge. The participants of the international NASA Space Apps Challenge will have only 24 hours to develop and present innovative solutions and ideas with the help of data virtualization, coding, design and other means.

The participants of the Space Apps Challenge-Armenia will develop applications on the following themes: “The Earth and Us”, “Planetary Blues”, “Warning: Danger Ahead”, “Ecological Neighborhood”, and “Ideate and Create.

Both individual and team participants will present their ideas on the five themes of the NASA Space Apps Challenge. In general, the challenge gives the participants an opportunity to meet important objectives by competing in an open innovative platform and develop a solution that can be put to use in practice, using databases of NASA and other important organizations in the process of product development.

The teams will pitch their innovative solutions and ideas in front of the panel, consisting of local and international specialists. The products submitted to the contest are based on the solutions, innovations and ideas of beginner, student and expert engineers, coding programmers, designers, and analysts.

“Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory hosts the participants of the local Armenian hackathon, within one of the highly-reputable global contests. I’m proud that the participants will be performing their tasks using our high-speed internet service. One cannot underestimate the achievements of our country in the sphere of Astrophysics. Love of science in these young people and their aspirations help us believe that the traditions will continue and drive further development,” VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian commented.

The organizer of the Armenian stage of the international challenge is “X-TECH” Company; the co-organizer is “Locator”.

Appreciating the achievements of Armenia in the sphere of astronomy, VivaCell-MTS has provided the participants of the Challenge with high-speed Internet access.
