Air Force test-launches intercontinental ballistic missile

According to the Air Force, a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile was test launched from Vandenberg AFB in California. The weapon was not armed, and travel 4,200 miles before impacting in a test range near Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.
     The missile was launched by crew from the 625th Strategic Operations Squadron, aboard a U.S. Navy E-6B airborne command post. It was pulled randomly from a silo at F.E. Warren AFB before being transferred to Vandenberg. The test appears to have been a success.
