Manchester United set aside €150 million to sign Gareth Bale - report

“At Real Madrid they already know of the Red Devils’ intentions, but they are refusing to sell the player,” according to a Spanish newspaper AS.

“In fact, the English club have already set aside that amount in their budget in order to undertake the signing of the Cardiff-born forward.”

The multi-million pound signings of Ángel Di María, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini and Radamel Falcao have failed to return Manchester United to the path of success following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

It is for that reason that United are willing to break the bank and bolster their project under Louis van Gaal with the Cardiff-born player.

However, Bale, who cost Real €101 million in 2013, said during an interview on a Spanish radio station on Tuesday that the idea of leaving the Bernabéu does not pass through his head.

“I am very happy. I am happy here, I still have many years of my contract left (until 2019) and I want to continue winning titles at Real Madrid," said Bale.

Last season they finished outside of the Champions League places – this season finishing in the top four seems to be the ultimate goal for the club with the most league titles (20) in England.
