Apair of Manchester United supporters hid in a toilet and staged a sleepover at Old Trafford in a bid to watch Jose Mourinho's side take on Arsenal the following day.

The duo, who are thought to be students, had entered the stadium last Friday evening as part of a stadium tour.

Before the tour finished they hid inside one of the toilets, where they slept overnight, before they were found the following morning during a security sweep of the stadium.

The two supporters were handed over to police, who decided not to arrest the pair.

United say there was no risk to those attending the match against Arsenal, as people who go on stadium tours are searched - along with their belongings - beforehand and must go through metal detectors.

"We realise people will go to any lengths to watch a game at Old Trafford but these people went too far," said a spokesman.
