George H.W. Bush on Trump: He's a 'blowhard'
In a new book, former President George H.W. Bush confirmed he voted for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and said of President Trump, "I'm not too excited about him being a leader."
“I don’t like him,” George H.W. Bush says in the book. “I don’t know much about him, but I know he’s a blowhard. And I’m not too excited about him being a leader.”
In the book, George H.W. Bush confirms he voted for Clinton over President Trump, and the younger Bush says he voted for “none of the above,” according to The New York Times.
The elder Bush also says in the book that Trump is motivated by “a certain ego,” according to the Times.
The preview of the new book follows a speech by George W. Bush in which he said “bigotry seems emboldened” in the United States, and warned that Americans need to reject “white supremacy.”
The younger Bush didn’t mention Trump by name during the speech, and a spokesman said Bush’s remarks were “a long-planned speech on liberty and democracy.”
The book preview also comes after George H.W. Bush issued an apology following accusations by several women that he groped them.
