The 21-year-old from France, who has Down syndrome, presented part of TV network France 2's weather forecast on Tuesday night (local time), Newshub reported.

She got the gig after a charity rallied public support to make her dream a reality. A Facebook page for the campaign, called 'Melanie peut le faire' ('Melanie can do it'), attracted over 238,000 likes. The campaign was organised by Unapei, a charity dedicated to helping people with disabilities become better integrated in society.

Segard was given four days of training for her stint as weather presenter, as well as hands-on help from France 2 presenter Chloe Nabedian.

"It's work! But it's okay," Segard told Le Parisien.

"My dream was to show people the weather, and this can open doors to other people with disabilities."

Unapei president Luc Gateau told La Croix that Segard was a strong symbol for what the disabled community can achieve.
