Juncker stated that an erroneous assessment of Obama to the status of Russia

Sanctions against Russia in the near future cannot be undone, however, the EU should treat Russia as an equal partner and a great power. This was stated by the TV channel Euronews European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. He also expressed confidence that Obama was wrong in his assessment of the status of Russia.
     "I do not see any arguments in favor of the immediate lifting of sanctions against Russia. But I would like to Russia was the agreement that go beyond the usual scope. Without Russia it is impossible to build security in Europe, we need to know," said he.
     Juncker reminded that Russia is three times larger than Europe, and expressed the opinion that Russia should be seen as a "great Association and proud nation." "And I would like to have with Russia, we spoke on equal terms", he added.
     The head of the European Commission expressed its disagreement with President Barack Obama, who called Russia a "regional power". "This is a big mistake," said Juncker.
     17 November, Obama called Russia is a military superpower, having "influence in the region and the world." However, he added that his "principle in relation to Russia has not changed since the first day of the presidency".
     The official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, commenting on these words of the American leader, reminded, what he had previously called Russia a regional power.
