Shocker : Abramovich eyeing former Chelsea star as next manager
 The former Chelsea midfielder Didier Deschamp’s contract with France will end after the Euro 2016 and Stamford Bridge hierarchy seriously considering the France coach as their long-term manager, Daily Mirror reports. Didier Deschamps has suddenly emerged as a surprising contender to become the next Blues boss, after Chelsea’s desperation to lure Pep Guardiola to Stamford bridge apparently failed. Deschamps, the current France manager will guide the host nation into this summer’s Euros but it is believed his contract ends after that, and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is keen to bring in a new boss who can actually deliver a long-term prospect. The confused Russian billionaire has been left with no other choice but to appoint short-term replacements like Guus Hiddink, Rafa Benitez and Avram Grant in recent times. It is now suggested that Abramovich is not looking for any more quick-fix solutions and already had discussions with his trusted advisor Marina Granovskaia and technical director Michael Emenalo to search for the right person. 47-yearold Deschamps is a possible target and has been joined the short-list of Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone, Juventus’ massimiliano allegri and late surprise Stoke City’s Mark Hughes. Deschamps, who apparently speaks English quite well, played for Chelsea for only one season up to 2000. He had a colourful playing career as part of the France national team who won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000. But it is his coaching career which makes him more attractive to become next Chelsea boss. |
