Are you a fast-paced folder or a laid-back biter? Behavior expert reveals why the way you eat your PIZZA says plenty about your personality

Grabbing a slice of your favorite pizza may seem like a completely meaningless (yet satisfying) act. But one behavioral expert has revealed that the way you choose to chow down on your pizza can actually provide vital clues to their personality type.

Patti Wood,a body language and human behavior expert who teaches at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and was behind a recent piece of research which linked personality traits to the way you put on your bra, has revealed that there are four clear pizza-eating personality types: Drivers, influencers, supporters, and careful correctors, according to Cosmopolitan.

'There are four distinct personality types have very unique ways of doing things, even small tasks,' Wood recently told Redbook.

'Everything you do - and the way you do it - comes together to form a story about yourself.'

Though she explained that some of the ways we behave are based on habit, seemingly spontaneous moments can also provide key clues into the way our minds work.

Patti's observational research is based around American psychologist William Moulton Marston's DISC theory, which focuses on four different behavioral traits: dominance, inducement, submission and compliance.

But Wood points out that not everyone fits neatly into one box - and many of us are a combination of several different personality traits.

'Not everyone is just a driver or just an influencer,' says Wood.

'It's a combination of personality traits, so you could identify as a driver in some things you do, and an influencer in others. Usually, though, there tends to be one that comes to the forefront just a bit more.'

Wood has used her observational research to dissect other mundane everyday activities that reveal details about the inner workings of our minds, including the way women fasten their bras.

And now, Cosmopolitan has applied that same research to people’s pizza eating techniques, linking each ‘method’ of consumption with a different personality type. So which one are you?

YOU FOLD IT

Drivers are all about multi-tasking: It's not about savoring the flavors; it's about eating the slice as quickly as possible - probably while talking on on the phone and driving at the same time.

People who fall into this personality category are also adventurous, bore easily and are not afraid to take a risk. So being the best - not fussy table manners - is top priority, and they are not afraid to take charge of their pie.

YOU EAT THE CRUST FIRST

Perhaps not surprisingly, people who attack their slice from the back are labeled 'influencers' meaning that they are spontaneous and live life to the fullest.

They like to be different, challenge the status quo and set trends - even if they get some weird stares at the pizza parlor.

Influencers are dramatic, often talk loudly, and love getting attention through actions — even better if a little admiration comes with it.

These people are not afraid to be ahead of the curve, and since they are optimistic and very social they have no trouble convincing their peer group that everyone should eat pizza crust-first.

YOU USE A FORK AND KNIFE

People who take the time to carve into a slice instead of using the 'grab and go' approach usually fall into the 'supporter' category.

Supporters are warm and friendly team players who take life at a relaxed pace - in other words, the perfect restaurant dining companions.

Wood describes supporters as 'the shoulder to cry on and the one who remembers birthdays', so they feel most at home with a group of girlfriends, a couple of bottles of wine and a couple of pies.

Supporters would probably make sure that everyone has a slice before serving themselves - and since they are system-oriented, they tend to order the same thing time after time, before eating it in the same, sensible fashion.

YOU JUST BITE IT

Those who go for the no-frills eating approach are careful correctors who like to go with what they know so that they get a predictable result each time.

In other words, hey don’t take their pizza eating lightly, because they want to get it right.

They may experiment with a few flavors, but they tend to pick – and stay with – the one that they like best. They are perfectionists when it comes to pizza – probably right down to the gourmet pizza cutter.
