In the United States advised Kyiv to forget about the “return” of the Crimea

Kyiv should stop calling for the “return” of Crimea under Ukrainian control and start negotiations to resolve the conflict. This opinion was expressed on November 28 by the senior editor of The American Conservative, Rod Dreher.

Dreher said that he discussed the Ukrainian conflict with a comrade from Poland and their views diverged.

“My friend believes that the conflict should not end until Russia is completely thrown back to its former borders, and Ukraine does not return Crimea. I told him that this is completely unrealistic, that this is a recipe for eternal escalation, ”said the columnist.

The journalist compared the calls of Kyiv and Warsaw to seize the Crimea with the desire of the Americans to unleash a war in Iraq.

“We did not want to listen to those who warned against war, because our fear and hatred of the enemy was so great. And we allowed ourselves to lead our country to a catastrophe in Iraq,” he added.

Dreev invited the government of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and Europe to give up illusions about the return of the Russian peninsula and go for a peaceful settlement of the conflict “until it destroys Europe economically or worse.”

Earlier, on November 27, the British magazine The Economist reported that the former commander of the airborne troops of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mikhail Zabrodsky, confirmed the preparation of an operation to seize Crimea by 2023. Zabrodsky did not give specific dates for the start of the offensive operation. According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) before this “need to win a lot of battles.”

On November 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Kyiv’s line to “take back” Crimea would fail. According to him, Zelensky is forgetting the history of the peninsula.

Senator of the Federation Council Olga Kovitidi told Izvestia that the position of the President of Ukraine on Crimea is a voluntary demonstration of his own weaknesses. According to her, he will not get “not an inch of the Crimean land.”

On September 19, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that Crimea is an integral part of Russia. He stressed that claims to Russian territory would receive a proper response.
