WHO confirms 780 monkeypox cases reported in 27 countries

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Sunday confirmed that a total of 780 monkeypox cases have been identified in 27 countries that are not endemic for the disease, via a fact sheet distributed in Geneva.

"From May 13 to June 2, 2022, 780 laboratory-confirmed cases of monkeypox were reported," the organization said. The data came "from 27 countries in four WHO regions not endemic for monkeypox virus," the bulletin notes.
