Mystery as 42 old bodies with hands tied behind their backs found buried in graves on Milton Keynes building site

The 42 bodies, which are all old skeletons, appeared to have their hands tied behind their backs.

They were unearthed on a patch of old farmland in Buckingham as ground works for 72 new retirement flats were underway.

According to MK Citizen, many people are accusing the flat developers, Brio Retirement Living Holdings of keeping mum about the shocking find.

The bodies are said to have been found weeks ago when the company - which is part of Places for People - commissioned an archaeological investigation of the site to secure planning permission.

But nobody has seen the archaeologists' report.
All the skeletons have now been removed, leaving empty holes in the ground.

It is not known whether the bodies were buried with any artefacts which could help date the time of their deaths.

Councillor for Buckingham South, Robin Stuchbury said: “This find is of great historical significance to Buckingham and it should not be hushed up.

“I am aware that the bodies were found in December. There were more than 40 of them and they had their hands bound behind their backs, which infers they were prisoners of some kind.
“They could date from Anglo Saxon times, when there were killings in Buckingham, or from during the Civil War, which also saw casualties. Or they could be criminals who were hanged on the gallows in the town.
