Trump threatened Iraq with sanctions in case of "hostility" to the United States

US leader Donald Trump threatened Iraq with sanctions in case of "hostility" to the United States from Baghdad.

He stated this while commenting on the decision of the Iraqi parliament on the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country.

“If there is any hostility, if they do something that seems unacceptable to us, we will impose sanctions against Iraq, very significant,” the White House press pool quoted TASS as saying.

According to Trump, American troops will not leave Iraq until Baghdad pays Washington for the air base built there.

“If they ask us to leave, if we don’t do it in a friendly way. We will impose sanctions against them that they have never seen before. Compared to this, Iranian sanctions will seem somewhat boring, ”he said.

It was previously reported that the Iraqi government has begun preparing a document to implement the parliament’s decision on the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country and breaking off relations with the US-led anti-IS coalition.

State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said the United States is disappointed with the Iraqi parliament’s decision to withdraw foreign troops from the country.
