Iranian permanent representatives to UN compare Suleiman killing with declaration on war

The assassination by the United States of Iranian General Kassem Suleimani is tantamount to unleashing a war. This was stated in an interview with CNN by Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Majid Taht-Ravanchi.

According to him, the United States unleashed an economic war against Iran back in May 2018. The diplomat emphasized that on January 2, Washington launched the war in the literal sense of the word, “having committed a terrorist attack against an Iranian general.”

He stated that Tehran cannot “just turn a blind eye to what happened yesterday.”

“Definitely revenge will be harsh. Iran will act according to its choice and will determine the place and time itself, ”Ravanchi said.
General Suleymani was killed in Iraq on January 2 during a raid by American aircraft. He was in a car that was moving from Baghdad Airport. Suleimani commanded the special forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Al-Quds. It is responsible for organizing operations of the Iranian armed forces abroad.
