Frank Lampard reacts after confirmed as Chelsea's new coach
Frank Lampard has reacted after he was confirmed as Chelsea's new manager on a three-year contract to replace Maurizio Sarri.
The 41-year-old former England midfielder spent 13 seasons playing for the Blues, racking up an incredible 211 goals in 648 appearances from the middle of the pack before a year-long spell at rivals Manchester City and two seasons in the MLS with the Sky Blues' sister-club New York City during his playing career.
"Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have shared, however, my sole focus is on the job in hand and preparing for the season ahead. I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started."
"After 13 years with us as a player, where he became a club legend and our record goalscorer, we believe this is the perfect time for him to return and are delighted he has done so. We will do everything we can to ensure he has all the support required to be a huge success.’
Lampard enjoyed 13 hugely successful seasons at Chelsea as a player and remains the club’s record goalscorer, winning three Premier League titles, Champions League and Europa League.
