Saudi Arabia allows women to join army

Saudi Arabia's has introduced major reforms in the country in the past year, including allowing women to drive later this year and attending football matches at stadiums, but the country's recent announcement has made headlines all over.

For the first time, Saudi Arabia has announced military job opportunities for women.

All Saudi women, who meet the requirements, are allowed to apply for vacancies, involving mainly security roles until Thursday, the BBC reported.

Their service would be located in the provinces of Riyadh, Makkah, Al-Qassim and Madinah.

The 12-point criterion list includes Saudi citizens aged between 25 and 35, have a high-school diploma.

The requirements also include that women and their male guardians, who could be their husband, father, brother or son, must also have a place of residence in the same province where the job is.
