President Donald Trump is running for re-election in 2020 and would welcome a challenge from former Nashville resident and television star Oprah Winfrey, a spokesman told reporters Monday aboard Air Force One.
The comments, delivered as the president headed to Nashville, come on the heels of a CNN report the television tycoon is "actively considering" a presidential run in 2020.
"We welcome the challenge, whether it be Oprah Winfrey or anybody else," said Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley, according to a transcript of the press briefing.
