Spanish police announced on December 24 that they had seized four tons of hashish in a bust targeting a drug smuggling ring operating out of Malaga. The Guardia Civil made 15 arrests and seized €12,450 ( about $14,764), a firearm and several vehicles in an operation codenamed Garpon. Police allege that the gang had struck on a new method of distributing the drugs across Europe after shipping it from Morocco to southern Spain.
