In July, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine approved a draft resolution of the Cabinet of ministers of Ukraine, which aims to reduce the maximum allowed speed of traffic on urban roads to 50 kilometers per hour. Reportedly, it was a step towards the European standards and one of the ways to correct the sad statistics of mortality of Ukrainians on the roads.

We are one of the world leaders for this indicator, along with the United States, Russia, Georgia, India and Armenia. Our mortality rates are 3-4 times higher than in European countries, where there are already similar speed limits.The limitations are especially relevant for large cities. Kyiv is the city with the largest number of car accidents in Ukraine. Over the past 10 years more than 500 000 car accidents occurred in Kyiv.
