ABC: senators want to ban Trump to lift sanctions against Russia in circumvention of Congress
Influential US senators intend to introduce a bill that would prohibit President Donald Trump without the approval of Congress to lift the sanctions imposed on Russia by the former head of the White house Barack Obama. This was stated by the leader of the democratic minority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer (new York) in an interview with broadcaster ABC.

According to him, the number of senators is not highly satisfied with existing trump the ability to take sanctions against Russia in circumvention of Congress . In this regard, Schumer, along with another Senator Ben Cardin (Democrat, Maryland) intends next week to submit a bill according to which any decision trump on the removal or easing of sanctions against Russia must be approved by the Congress. According to Schumer, the bill also received support from two of the most prominent critics of Russia – Republican senators John McCain (Arizona) and Lindsey Graham (South Carolina).
In an interview, Schumer also groundlessly accused Russia of involvement in the events in Ukraine, the threat to the Baltic States and interfering in the American election, which Moscow has repeatedly denied. “If we remove the sanctions, it will encourage Russia to continue to meddle in our elections and to do bad things,” said Schumer, expressing hope that the proposed bill will receive support from both parties.

McCain, in turn, in interview to the same TV channel said that it is also “extremely concerned about the relationship” between the US and Russia. He claimed that many members of the new administration trump, including the newly approved Ministers of defense and national security James Mattis and John F. Kelly, believe that Russia is a “serious challenge.” Groundlessly accusing Russia of “war crimes” in Syria, McCain called for tougher sanctions against Moscow. “We have to (introduce) more sanctions against Russia, we must not weaken them,” he said.
Most of the sanctions against Russia were introduced by ex-US President Barack Obama using the so-called Executive decrees that do not require congressional approval. Thus, trump could easily undo them with the same orders and without the consent of the legislature. Previously, trump has declared its intention “at least for some time” after accession to the position of head of state to uphold the restrictive measures against Russia. He also said that it may lift sanctions in exchange for achievement with Moscow any best Washington deals, in particular the agreement to reduce nuclear arsenals.
