In the US, a top Manager of Volkswagen faces 169 years in prison

The judge in the US refused to bail the Manager of the Volkswagen AG Oliver Schmidt, who in the aggregate of the charges faces up to 169 years imprisonment.
     The judge refused to Schmidt in bail, stating that Schmidt, as a German citizen, could return to Germany, with which the US has no extradition Treaty.
     Earlier, the US government arrested the engineer Volkswagen James Liang, who worked in the company for two decades. He pleaded guilty and now faces up to five years in prison.
     Recall that Schmidt, who headed the division of compliance company in the U.S. was arrested January 9 FBI.
     Recently it became known that the Volkswagen will pay to the U.S. government another 4.3 billion dollars in the oil.
