A builder in China has miraculously survived after a six-foot-long lightning conductor pierced his body from his shoulder to waist.
The rod, measuring 6ft6, fell from above at a construction site in Huizhou city and became lodged in the man, local media reported.
Doctors successfully removed the rod from the 'extremely blessed man' after a two-hour operation.
The 28-year-old builder, known as A Feng, was working on the site on the afternoon of November 29, reported GDTV.
A lightning rod fell from the seventh floor of a building at the site and impaled A Feng.
The construction worker, still conscious and able to talk, was sent to Huizhou First Hospital.
Dr Yang Wendong, the hospital's head of cardiothoracic surgery, told MailOnline that the medical staff could not place the patient on the surgical bed as the rod was too long.
Fire fighters were requested to attend the hospital to cut the rod down to 3ft before the operation.
After inspection, the team realised the steel rod had pierced his abdomen, lung, liver and kidney.
However, A Feng was 'born with good luck' as the rod didn't pierce through major blood vessels, according to Dr Yang.
The rod also only damaged the surface area of his lungs.
Dr Yang decided to remove the rod from the man's shoulder by simply pulling it out.
The actual removal of the object only took two to three minutes. The team of surgeons then focused on repairing the wounded organs.
The entire operation took two hours and the patient's blood loss was minimal.
Dr Yang told MailOnline on Monday that A-Feng's condition is currently stable.
There is only minor infection in his waist but he has already started eating, according to Dr Yang.
