At Least Four Die in Indonesia as Speedboat Catches Fires, Capsizes

At least four people died and dozens were injured as a fast boat caught fire and capsized in the eastern part of Indonesia, media reported Sunday, citing the National Office of Search and Rescue Operations.

"The rescue operation on search for the missing persons is now under way," Marsudi, the spokesman for the Office, was quoted as saying by the Xinhua news agency.

According to the spokesman, the incident occurred after the Bintang Pajar speedboat left the Jailolo port in North Maluku, a province of Indonesia, for the city of Ternate.

According to the preliminary findings, the boat was carrying a total of 41 individuals. On September 15, a tourist boat exploded off the Indonesian island of Bali, killing one tourist and injuring dozens more.
