It is the second of four hotels in a £54million investment and, joined by his mother, son and super-agent Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo was clearly delighted on a brief outing in his home country's capital.

He has not played for Portugal since that July night in Paris when the team that struggled through an easy group somehow pulled together to win the trophy.
