Higher the value, as of 2015: More than 45 million people live in slavery

According to a recent study by the Foundation “Walk Free” is the number of people in Slavery, people living in the world increased significantly. Particularly bad is the situation in India and North Korea.
     Sydney/London – at Least 45.8 million people live around the world currently in slavery. This is the result of the “Global Slavery Index” by the Australian Foundation, “Walk Free”.
     The number is significantly higher than the 2015 counted 35.8 million. The authors of the study, however, the increase was largely due to better research conditions and quality.
     Most Affected in India and North Korea

In India, there are, according to the study, 18.3 million people most Affected. The proportion of the population in slavery North Korea cuts off 4.4 percent at the worst.

As modern-day slavery, the study defined all of the situations in which people have control over their body or the nature of their work is withdrawn.
