Seda Grigoryan, filmmaker and activist is presenting her short film WAY BACK HOME documenting the initiative that we took in April 2017, to participate at the general elections in Armenia as independent observers. Justice Within Armenia* had launched a mobilization of both civil societies in the Homeland and the diaspora to bring their contribution as concerned Armenians who were seeking transparent and fair elections, within the rule of law and respect of human rights. The film ties in in a timely way to this year's velvet revolution which succeeded peacefully under the leadership of Nikol Pashinyan (now Prime Minister of Armenia) and with the unwavering trust, hope and endorsement of the people of Armenia towards much needed social, economical and political change.
On a personal note, I would like to thank Seda Grigoryan for her dedication following every step I had to take since my 2016 arrest in Yerevan to inform myself in a direct and discerning way about the fate of the civil society in Armenia who has been struggling for visibility and justice since independence under the status quo of previous autocratic regimes.
The film will screen at the Golden Apricot International Film Festival within the Armenian panorama films section, at the Union of Cinematographers (Vardanants 18, entrance from Arami st.) on Friday, July 13th, at 6pm (TBC).

*Founding members of Justice Within Armenia are Serj Tankian, Atom Egoyan, Eric Nazarian, Vahé Berberian and Arsinée Khanjian.
