Surgeons in central India were surprised to find seven kilograms of metal objects in the body of a man who had been complaining of stomach pain.

Doctors initially thought the patient, 35-year-old Maksud Khan from the city of Satna, might be suffering from severe poisoning.

"The patient was complaining of stomach pains, so we thought of getting an endoscopy done. We were shocked to discover coins, nails and nut-bolts in his stomach," a doctor told Zee News. "We come across such a case for the first time in our career."

Surgeons reportedly removed 263 coins, 100 nails, dozens of stones and razors and one iron shackle from the man's body, stating in the medical report that the objects had not caused severe damage.

Khan's relatives told doctors he suffered from depression in recent years which may have triggered his odd habit of swallowing pieces of metal
