All-New Lexus LS 500h Set for Geneva Unveil - With Multi-Stage Hybrid System

The all-new Lexus LS 500h will debut soon at the Geneva Motor Show.

The hybrid model will join the range-topping LS 500 range following the debut of the petrol-powered model unveiled in January at the Detroit Auto Show.

Featuring knock-out looks, the all-new model jettisons the current 5.0-litre petrol V8 engine in favour of a new 310kW/600Nm twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 (that’s 25kW/107Nm more than the V8) driving through a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Lexus calls it a Multi Stage Hybrid System, which offers better acceleration, traction and throttle response over the regular hybrid.

Also on the improve are the LS hybrid's top speed in electric-only mode - now 140km/h - along with a combined improvement in fuel economy and emissions.

But it was the styling which earned considerable kudos in Detroit – the all-new Lexus LS 500 scoring a sleek, road-hugging look which carries some cues from the RC Coupe and furthers the dynamic designs now emerging from Toyota’s prestige brand.

Underneath is the GA-L (Global Architecture – Luxury) chassis and weight-saving aluminium components in the suspension which also features active anti-rollbars and four-wheel steering. An air suspension is on the options list.

While the twin-turbo V6 Lexus LS 500 is locked into Australian launch early 2018, Australia will get it's first taste of the Multi Stage Hybrid System via the Lexus LC 500h, due to arrive in the middle of this year.
